The shallow things

As long as people desire shallow things…

• It is easier to subdue them.
• It is easier to enslave them.
• It is easier to distract them.
• It is easier to control them.
• It is easier to silence them.
• It is easier to keep them out of our way.

If we award those who exploit and celebrate sensuality and shallow things

We will create a culture of fame around sensuality and shallow things.

This is a poor substitute for true greatness.

More and more people will compete to celebrate and exploit sensuality.

This will have a blinding effect on culture.

• This will create a widespread hysteria.
  • The wider it spreads, the harder it will be to see it.
    • The harder it will be to see the better alternative.
    • The harder it will seem to stop it.
• Blinding them from desiring and doing meaningful things.
  • Helpful things.
  • Selfless things.
  • Life-giving things.

If we make them covet / chase fame, they will willingly surrender

• Surrender their desire for truth.
• Surrender their ability to have a voice for anything that exists beyond the shallow things.
